One of my friends recommended that I check out Speak Nicely, an online shop offering kids' clothing with uplifting, positive messages (no "lock up your daughters" to be seen here). It turns out that Speak Nicely was launched by someone I knew from years back- mom of five Audrey Weitz. I met Audrey in 1996 when I was a 23-year-old volunteer at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago- and she was my supervisor. She was doing inspirational things then, and clearly is doing them now, too! Speak Nicely clothing features slogans like "A Smile is Good," "Teach Me Gently," "Honor People," and the classic "Be Nice." Everything is made using 100% cotton American Apparel garments, and is very reasonably priced (a short sleeve tee is about $18). Also check out Speak Nicely's blog for some "nice" parenting tips...which I think everyone could use!
