I meant to post this in April (for April showers, ya know), but I missed the boat. Anyway, I wanted to recommend this Sky Umbrella designed by Tibor Kalman for the The Museum of Modern Art collection. I bought mine years ago at MoMA and, miraculously, have never left it in a cab. Good thing- my kids have grown to love this umbrella as much as I do. They huddle under it with me and pretend it's actually a sunny day ("What do you mean it's raining?"). It comes in two versions- "old fashioned" with wooden handle ($48) or collapsible ($35); you can buy it at Spoon Sisters.
