Mommy Bites Summit

I had a fun time at the recent "Mommy Bites" summit hosted by NYC moms' group Baby Bites. It was a luxe mom's night out featuring shopping, noshing, and learning (parenting talks were provided by experts on sleep and other "issues"). There were prizes and a make-your-own swag bag table, too, which unfortunately I missed. I only had an hour at the event, but here's my report on just a few of the vendors (I will report more later on some others):

I was so pleased to meet Audrey McClelland (far right), the power mom behind Totsy. Totsy is a fantastic "flash sample sale" site that I check daily (I'll be writing more about them soon). If you're on Twitter, Audrey is a fun person to follow. (By the way, my apologies that the pictures from this event are so blurry; I didn't realize that my 3-year-old had changed the settings on my Canon Digital SLR).


Magnificent Baby makes baby layette clothing with simple, magnetic closures (no more trying to match snaps on a wriggly newborn). The clothing is 100% safe for baby, 100% Phthalate free, and machine/dryer washable. The designs are really sweet, too (sorry again about the photos).

I had a memorable chat with Cheri Lian, the founder of Generous Kids, Inc. She lost her 7-year-old nephew several years ago; he had special needs and inspired her to create an organization and product to teach children about generosity and tolerance. The "Genna and Russ" book is delightful, as are the eponymous twin stuffed animals. You can buy them here.
