วาฬหลังค่อม (6 ม.) วงศ์ Megaptera novaeangliae อาศัยอยู่ในเกาะรูรูตู เฟรนช์โปลินีเซีย
สัตว์เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมเป็นสิ่งมีชีวิตอันดับบนสุดของห่วงโซ่อาหาร ดังนั้นพวกมันจึงสะสมมวลสารที่ละลายอยู่ในทะเล
แม้ว่าจะอาศัยอยู่ห่างไกลจากเขตตัวเมือง แต่วาฬหลังค่อมก็ได้รับผลกระทบอันเกิดจากมลภาวะทางสารเคมี

The young humpback whale (6 m) Megaptera novaeangliae lives in Rurutu Island in French Polynesia

A reduction in their ability to reproduce, the fragility of their immune system, malformations among newborns, even cetacea, living far from urban areas are not safe from the effects of chemical pollution.
