Playtime New York Roundup: Part 1

Two weeks ago, I paid a quick visit to the New York debut of international trade show Playtime. It was a pretty awesome display of new (and relatively new) designers of kids' apparel, accesories, toys, and even maternity wear. Held in a beautiful Soho loft space at 82 Mercer Street, it had a very cool vibe. I'm still sorting through all my finds and photos, but here are just a few to whet your appetite:

bakker made with love is a French designer exhibiting in New York for the first time. The teeny-tiny infant clothes are TDF (the skinny jeans! the blazer! the silk dresses!). The French sure do know how to dress children. Not for sale yet in the U.S.

Cute country gingham sneaks by Bensimon. Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks of Kelly Bensimon when I see that name.

Maternity dresses by Fragile, a Belgian brand. Why didn't they have this stuff when I was pregnant? I lived in cheap separates from Old Navy maternity.

Whimsical soft toys by Moulin Roty, another French import. Their website is every bit as sweet as their products.

This one is great. Big Head Baby is exactly what you'd expect- baby clothing with extra snaps and "give" to accommodate the heads of larger babies. My son's head was enormous as an infant and this would've been great. Designed by an aunt who saw the need for this while dressing her (big-headed) nephew after his bath!

More to come soon from Playtime New York!
