Same Tee, Next Year

Do you remember those cool raglan birthday tees I've posted before from the Etsy site Happy Family (shown above in R & S's versions from last year, ages 3 and 6)? I ordered them again, in age 4 in light blue and navy for S. and age 7 in pink and fuschia for R. These have become a yearly favorite, and for good reason. As far as birthday tees go, they manage to be sweet, sentimental, and stylish. The raglan style flatters both brothers and sisters. And, they work great for photo ops (we almost used ours for our holiday card). The price ($16 apiece) can't be beat, too. If you need some cute sibling birthday tees, definitely check out Happy Family.

Arriving Next Year

Going to a baby shower this fall or winter? Score major points for most original gift with these Copyright Name 2011 or Copyright Name 2010 tees or onesies by mitetees. Each is one-of-a-kind, highlighting the tike-to-be's birth year and last name (if you know the gender, you can choose blue or pink text; if it's a surprise, opt for orange or green). They're on sale through September 5th; onesies and tees are both selling or $19.50 (regularly $26). The tees even go up to size 6 and you can enter an earlier birth year at check-out, so you can order one for a big sib as well. Visit mitetees.

p.s. Check out mitetees' patent tees, too. S. has one and we got lots of compliments.

Personalized Masterpieces

My friend Cathe at Feterie e-mailed to tell me about this great back-to-school product that the shop has just introduced. It's a Retro School Drawing Pad. Each standard-sized drawing pad has 53 sheets printed with your little one's name at the bottom in practice "dots" style, so they can sign each masterpiece that they create. It's a gift that will keep giving...just think of all the finished products you can send along to the grandparents! It costs $25.50 (includes personalization) at Feterie.

Rock On, Silly Bandz

S's 4th birthday party is next weekend and I let R. (who turns 7 two weeks later) invite some of her friends, too. Not surpisingly, she wants her friends to get a more sophisticated party favor than these Yo Gabba Gabba! Coloring Books which all of the preschoolers will receive. She chose Silly Bandz. Of course. So in keeping with the Yo Gabba Gabba/music theme, I found these packs of Silly Bandz Rock Bandz at Amazon.com for just $2.72 per pack of 24 band (regular retail price $5.99). Hopefully these will please the picky second-graders. By the way, I noticed that this particular pack of Silly Bandz is the #3 top seller in ALL of Amazon.com's toys and games. Wow.

It's a Boy, It's a Girl, IsaBooties

Is there anything cuter than tiny baby shoes? Not really. Now through Thursday, July 15th, all pairs of soft-soled baby shoes at our affiliate IsaBooties are just $20 (reduced from their regular $29 price). IsaBooties are known for their trademark soft soles, 100% animal free materials, and easy slip-on designs. My favorite pair is the Pink Tulip Toes ($20, sizes 3mos-24mos). These baby booties make a thoughtful gift (and welcome change from the dozens of onesies new parents receive). I've always liked that IsaBooties' site has a selection of Barefoot Books, too, so you can shop at the same time for a sibling gift. Plus, their standard (free) gift wrapping is pretty nice- your gift is wrapped in 100% recycled brown kraft wrapping paper and tied with a purple grosgrain ribbon along with your gift message. Check out all the goods at IsaBooties .

Enjoy $20 pricing on all shoes (no coupon code needed) at IsaBooties, today and tomorrow (July 15th).

How High Does it Go?

As we all know, sometimes the simplest toys make the biggest splash with our kids. I returned home from Time to Play's summer toy preview recently with a bagful of samples for my kids, and their favorite toy by far was the "Hyper-Charged" Sky Ball from Maui Toys. This soft-ball sized rubber ball is filled with a combination of compressed air and helium, making it super-bouncy (to use a non-scientific term). Supposedly it can bounce as high as 75 feet, though my kids seem quite satisfied with its reaching our living room ceiling. I must admit I have a fun time with it, too. The kids fight over it, and since we only got 1 sample, naturally R. is begging for her own for her upcoming birthday. Since it costs just $8.50 at Vat 19, I can't complain. Pick up one (or more) for your kids this summer- I promise they'll enjoy it, too.

Meet Flatsy

Have you seen the new remakes of the popular 1960s Flatsy Dolls? Think Barbie meets Gumby. These small, flat, rubbery bendy dolls measure just 4.75" tall but, of course, have beautiful long hair you can comb and accessorize. A family friend just gave one to R. (thanks, Betty!) and R. is obsessed. She wants to collect them all (and at $6.75 apiece, I can't argue with adding a few more to her collection- slowly). And maybe it will inspire R. to read one of my favorite childhood books- Flat Stanley (more on that another time). Buy your own Flatsy(s) at Schylling.com.

Sweet Storage

My first grader has tons of collections (our apartment is teeming with Silly Bandz at the moment) and I am always encouraging her to keep them organized. These personalized mini suitcases from Etsy shop Paper Mill Designs might do the trick. Made of sturdy cardboard, they're available in three sizes (small through large) and six colors, and you can choose the personalization color as well. A small suitcase costs $15 personalized; a set of 3 personalized cases (1 of each size) is $45. Perfect for nursery decor, too! Check out all the options here at Paper Mill Designs.

Coolest Big Sis

Glug Baby's Big Sister Tee is probably the coolest sibling tee I've seen in a while (and, trust me, I've seen plenty). This San Francisco-based company makes clothing that is comfortable and stylish with just the right amout of indie flair. This popular tee has already been reduced to $24.99 from $34.00 at Moxie Kids; you can take an additional 20% off with the coupon code below. It's only left in size 7 years, but if you've got a little sis in your household, too, check out the matching tee, also on sale, in size 12-18 months.

Enjoy 20% off your entire purchase (including sale items) at Moxie Kids now through December 21st with code "HH2010". Plus, if you shop before the 17th, your order will be shipped to arrive before December 24th with standard UPS ground shipping (domestic shipping only).

Bargain Alert: Barbie Pajamas

The quality gets mixed reviews, but these Barbie Pajamas (reduced to $14.99 from $39.50; sizes 2T-6 still available) from Pottery Barn Kids are a pretty good deal. And sure to be a hit with many little girls. Consider them for a birthday gift or a big sister gift. They're made of soft brushed polyester flannel; the pants have an elastic waistband. Buy them at Pottery Barn Kids.

Standout Sibling Tees

As regular readers know, I love finding new, unique sibling tees, so I was intrigued when I was contacted by BB's News: A Sibling Celebration. This new company (started by a mom who was tired of all the same basic Big Brother/Big Sister tees) offers sibling threads with more of a hipster edge, in a variety of designs and specialty inks. My favorites? The big brother "Crane" tee and the big sis "Girl Guitar", pictured above. I like that the tees start at size 2T and go all the way up to 6/8 for some designs. The price is very reasonable, too- $23 for each and every tees. The only downside? There are no little sib shirts (yet)- but they're on their way. In the meantime, pick up some threads for your older kid at BB's News.

Enjoy a 10% discount on any order at BB's News with code "MyMomShops" now through 5/31/10.

Books to Bed

CWD Kids is having a 3-day sale on Pajama and Book Sets, which make great holiday gifts. The sets (originally $39-$42) are now $29 each and there are 7 styles available. The Christmas set is the obviously the most seasonally-appropriate, but I'm guessing that Goldilicious, Fancy Nancy, Pinkalicious and Purplicious are year-round top sellers. Makes a cute sibling set, too. Available in sizes 2T through 10, on sale for 2 days only at CWD Kids.

Bargain Alert: Tree by Kerri Lee Music Box

I found a great deal on this gorgeous Musical Wooden Jewelry Box by one of my favorite artisans, Tree by Kerri Lee. This is no ordinary store-bought kids' jewelry box- it's a handmade, hand-painted little treasure (measuring 8' x 6' x 5' deep) that plays music and features a shatterproof mirror and dancing wooden figurine inside. It's a very special birthday gift for a daughter or niece, or a baby gift that will be cherished as the years go by. And, it's a bargain at just $22.53 (reguarly $65...a savings of 65%). Buy it at Amazon.com.
